2026 Horror Games Are Coming In Hot: The Titles We Can’t Wait to Play

Written by: Luis Vox

2026 is shaping up to be a MASSIVE year for horror. A constant stream of films like "28 Years Later: The Bone Temple", "Scream 7", and "Evil Dead Burn" is definitely keeping us glued to theater screens. But it’s also turning into an equally massive year for horror gaming. It’s only the first quarter of 2026, and we’ve already seen some great games released, like Resident Evil: Requiem and Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake, just to name a few. But we still have a lot of time left, and we should look ahead to see what’s worth getting excited about.

Here’s a list of horror games we can’t wait to get our hands on in 2026:

Directive 8020: A Dark Pictures Game

Quick Breakdown
Earth is a dying planet. A team of colonists sets out to find a viable alternative. They find the perfect planet for humanity to survive. Or so they thought.

Why we’re excited
Supermassive Games has brought “choose your own adventure” narratives to gaming. Since "Until Dawn" first haunted us with a slasher story reminiscent of ’80s classics and 2000s torture porn, while adding extra horror flavors to keep us guessing, they’ve been pumping out some compelling, narratively driven experiences. Characters can die, and the story keeps going, making choices matter. Their games have always answered the question: could we actually survive a horror movie? That answer is usually no.

"Directive 8020" takes us to space. And the one thing we all know about space is no one can hear you scream. We’re expecting nods to Alien, The Thing, Event Horizon, and maybe even Jason X just to keep things interesting.

Grave Seasons

Quick Breakdown
A farming simulator where you must harvest crops and build relationships with the townsfolk of Ashenridge… and possibly catch a supernatural serial killer before he kills again.

Why we’re excited
Tending to crops and keeping your farm in order aren’t really the tasks that come to mind when people think of horror. At least not in the typical sense. But when you add hunting down a supernatural serial killer to the mix, and digging up clues as much as dirt, things can get interesting. Grave Seasons also sports old-school pixel art with some really cool animations reminiscent of RPGs from the 1990s and early 2000s.

Dawn of the Bloodwalker

Quick Breakdown
You play as Coen, a Dawnwalker, a human/vampire hybrid who has 30 days to exact revenge on the vampire who took his family hostage and made him who he is.

Why we’re excited
When you have alumni from CD Projekt Red, who worked on "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt", it’s easy to get excited. Especially when it’s a horror action RPG with an open world and morality choices. The game features a day-and-night cycle. During the day, you’re human. You gain allies and try to uncover secrets to help you on your quest to save your family. During the night, you play as a vampire. You’re a supernatural being with dark powers. You decide how brutal you are in your quest for revenge. You shape the story. You have 30 days to save your family, and how you spend that time is up to you.

Halloween: The Game

Quick Breakdown
A combination of single-player and 1v4 asymmetrical horror. In multiplayer, you’re placed in the shoes of The Shape, Michael Myers. The year is 1978. It’s Halloween night, and you’ve just escaped Smith’s Grove Sanitarium. You head back to Haddonfield to unleash terror on unsuspecting residents. Or you can play as a survivor, trying to live through the night HE came home. Work together to push back the boogeyman. Story mode details are wrapped tighter than a full-sized Halloween candy bar… for now.

Why we’re excited
Just like stepping into the world of Hellraiser, walking around as Michael Myers has been a dream for horror gamers for decades. We got a taste of it with "Dead by Daylight", but to finally have an official Halloween game is a dream, or nightmare, come true. The multiplayer is going to be chaotic and intense, but we’re just as curious about the single-player story and whether we’ll also be on the receiving end of The Shape.

Silent Hill: Townfall

Quick Breakdown
You play as Simon Ordell. You inexplicably wake up in the island town of St. Amelia with no memory of how you got there. A dense fog covers the town, and you find yourself fighting unspeakable horrors. All you have is a CRTV and a medical bracelet hinting at your past. Something brought you here… but can you survive long enough to uncover the truth?

Why we’re excited
Silent Hill has been having a resurgence. With the release of Silent Hill 2 Remake and Silent Hill f, we’re getting pulled back into the fog again. This entry shifts to a first-person perspective and introduces a character who may have more at stake than just his sanity. We’re impatiently waiting for more.

TBA 2026 for PlayStation 5 and PC

Remothered: Red Nun’s Legacy

Quick Breakdown
The third and final installment in the trilogy. The first two games explored themes of child abuse, medical experimentation, grief, trauma, and death. The story is currently under wraps but promises a return to the series’ roots.

Why we’re excited
This is one of those series where the story is all kinds of messed up. Most horror games touch on dark themes, but few involve children in such a heavy way. Just like in film, when kids are at the centre of something this dark, it sticks with you long after it’s over.

TBA 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC

Fractured Blooms

Quick Breakdown
You tend to your garden, make dinner, clean up after the kids, and fix things around the house. The tasks pile up as time slips away. You’re always tired, and your to-do list never ends. As exhaustion sets in, your sanity starts to crack.

Why we’re excited
One thing most horror fans can agree on is we love subverted expectations. When something genuinely gets under our skin, it hits differently. Serenity Forge did exactly that with Doki Doki Literature Club. Now they’re back with a gardening and life sim that looks ready to drag us straight into existential dread. It’s equal parts exciting and nerve-wracking.

TBA 2026 for PC, with possible console ports

ILL

Quick Breakdown
A mysterious source of evil has been unleashed at a research fort. The main character must fight through grotesque creatures and abominations to find answers and save what matters most.

Why we’re excited
With hyper-realistic visuals, insane creature design, and a brutal dismemberment system, this game looks completely unhinged. It’s like Doom had a nightmare child with The Thing. Pure nightmare fuel.

TBA 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC

Hellraiser: Revival

Quick Breakdown
You play as Aiden, who, after a steamy night with his girlfriend Sunny, finds himself in a nightmare when she uses the Genesis Configuration and summons the Cenobites. Aiden makes a deal with the Hell Priest to save her and escape the labyrinth.

Why we’re excited
There’s no official release date yet, but it’s expected this year, so we’re counting it. This new entry expands the Hellraiser universe with a story co-written by Clive Barker himself. Even better, Doug Bradley returns to voice the Hell Priest. If that doesn’t make you want to open the box, nothing will.

TBA 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC
