The Vampire Lestat Unleashes Debut Rock Single “Long Face”

Written By: Sam Santiago

Friday the 13th always brings a cavalcade of eerie releases and spooky happenings. It has become an unofficial horror holiday for many, and the folks over at AMC have just announced that their resident specter of death, Lestat de Lioncourt, portrayed by Sam Reid, has released his first single as the band “The Vampire Lestat” in anticipation of the upcoming season of the series formerly known as "Interview With the Vampire". The new single is titled "Long Face" and for sure gives off them Bowie vibes.

AMC has officially retitled the show for its third season as "The Vampire Lestat". Which makes this release even better, as Lakeshore Records is partnering up with Lestat to release the single on all streaming services today!

From The Press Release:

The first official rock single, “Long Face,” performed by the world’s first immortal rock star, Lestat de Lioncourt (Sam Reid), dropped today ahead of the premiere of The Vampire Lestat. AMC Networks and Lakeshore Records released the single on the newly launched Vampire Lestat artist profile pages across major digital music platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music, with additional songs set to arrive in the coming months. The song’s original music and lyrics were written by series composer Daniel Hart and performed by Reid. It will be featured in "The Vampire Lestat", premiering this summer on AMC and AMC+.

In the new rock and roll-centric season, "The Vampire Lestat" embarks on an electrifying multi-city tour while being haunted by “muses” from his wild and rebellious past. As his band’s popularity and star power rise, so does Lestat’s influence over vampires and humans alike, forcing others to contend with his growing power amid the Great Conversion, an unnatural surge in the vampire population. In addition to Reid, The Vampire Lestat stars Jacob Anderson, Assad Zaman, Eric Bogosian, Delainey Hayles, and Jennifer Ehle.

The series is executive produced by award-winning producer Mark Johnson, along with creator, writer, and showrunner Rolin Jones, Hannah Moscovitch, Christopher Rice, and the late Anne Rice.

Said Daniel Hart:

“Long Face is the first song I wrote for The Vampire Lestat. We decided early on to make David Bowie a major influence on Lestat’s musical style and persona, and there’s certainly some Ziggy Stardust in this song. But we chose Bowie not only for his glam era, but because he was a chameleon. Expect Lestat to change his musical colors throughout the season as he discovers how to remain true to himself and how to express that truth on stage every night.”

Said the Vampire Lestat:

“Long Face is the first song Daniel Hart ‘produced’ for my album. He decided early on to steal where he could from Bowie because he hasn’t had an original idea in five years now. Is that his Green Knight score fading in the rearview? As for ‘Long Face,’ the bass should have walked down with the guitar at the end instead of pedaling on E. Predictable. Like everything Daniel Hart touches.”

We'll be back with any and all updates regarding "The Vampire Lestat" and the Immortal Universe over at AMC when we get them.
