"The Last Drive-In With Joe Bob Briggs" Series Finale Airs Tonight, Four Specials Set for 2026

Years ago, we stumbled onto TNT’s Monstervision while flipping through the randomness of 90s cable TV one evening. The show was spooky and creepy, but there was always a layer of humor that made loving these movies not just acceptable, but cool. And once we watched for a while, and the movie switched back to the tall, lanky cowboy introducing those random, wildly varied films, we learned it was none other than Joe Bob Briggs; we were Drive‑In Mutants for life.

Every time one of Joe Bob’s shows came to an end, we’d find him again on a new station doing what he did best — answering fan mail, dropping wild facts about the films, and of course, delivering those unforgettable drive‑in totals. Now, Joe Bob’s latest hosting duties on Shudder are set to come to an end tonight as "The Last Drive‑In With Joe Bob Briggs" wraps up its run. We’re very sad about this, and honestly, we understand: the weight of a regular show is a lot to carry, especially as Joe Bob gets a bit older now (he could still kick the shit out of me — the man’s like six‑seven! — so I’ll tread lightly here). But Shudder absolutely knows the legacy he’s built, and they’re keeping the spirit of the drive‑in alive.

According to Bloody Disgusting, Shudder has confirmed that while tonight’s Season 7 finale will bring the beloved series to a close, Joe Bob Briggs and his ever‑voluptuous, ever‑goofy mail girl Diana Prince, better known to mutants everywhere as Darcy The Mail Girl, will return for four new specials throughout the rest of 2026. “The Last Drive‑In With Joe Bob Briggs” is ending — but fear not, because the drive‑in will never die.

In the series finale, the horror hosts will celebrate the weirdly wonderful world of genre cinema with a double feature and a look back at seven years of drive‑in madness. The final episode airs tonight, March 6, at 9pm ET on Shudder and AMC+, and will be available on demand beginning Sunday, March 8.

The first of the four new specials, Joe Bob’s Wicked Witchy Wingding, will follow on April 24 at 9pm ET. The double feature of occult classics continues Joe Bob’s ongoing, eternal campaign to establish Walpurgisnacht as an American horror holiday — and if you know Drive‑In Mutants, you know that’s exactly the kind of mission we can get behind.

“Joe Bob Briggs has been a Shudder staple since 2018, when his original 13‑movie marathon ‘broke the internet,’” said Courtney Thomasma, EVP of Linear and Streaming Products, in the announcement. “Since then, he and Darcy the Mail Girl have continued to delight Shudder fans with double features and seasonal specials tailored to horror buffs and cinephiles alike, always offering plenty of surprises. We look forward to sharing these four new specials with Drive‑In Mutants everywhere.”

Directed by Austin Jennings and produced by Matt Manjourides and Justin Martell of Not the Funeral Home (Night of the Reaper, Street Trash 2024), The Last Drive‑In has become more than a show; it’s become a community. Across seven seasons and numerous specials over the last eight years, Joe Bob and Darcy have hosted over 200 movies on Shudder, giving us laughter, horror, trivia, and that warm fuzzy feeling only good genre cinema with great hosts can deliver.

The drive‑in might be ending its regular broadcast, but as Joe Bob would tell you, there’s still plenty of gas left in the tank. Stay spooky, mutants.
