"THE CONTAINMENT" (2025) Brings A New Possession Nightmare To Theaters In 2026

Written By: Sam Santiago

A new possession nightmare is clawing its way into theaters this winter. "The Containment" is a supernatural horror feature directed by the directing duo of Jack Zagha Kababie and Yossy Zagha Kababie, and it is officially set to hit theaters across the U.S. and Canada on January 23, 2026. We have all you need to know about the flick below.

The film stars Gia Hunter, who horror fans may recognize from "Primate" (2025), in a raw and unsettling lead performance as Caroline Cobbler.

SYNOPSIS: Caroline is young, fractured, and already drowning in grief after the death of her father. That trauma opens the door to something far worse. When a malevolent presence latches onto her, what begins as a possession story quickly mutates into something far more vicious. Once her mother turns to the church for help, they uncover a threat that makes the demon itself seem almost merciful.

Rather than leaning on familiar exorcism beats, "The Containment" appears to aim for a slower, crueler unraveling, one rooted in emotional collapse and spiritual rot. The horror does not just live inside Caroline. It spreads outward, infecting everyone who tries to save her.

Backing Hunter is a strong supporting cast that includes Jack Gouldbourne ("Fighting with My Family", "Sister Boniface Mysteries"), genre veteran Charlotte Hunter ("American Psycho", "Roanoke: The Lost Colony"), and Fernanda Romero ("The Eye and The Burning Plain".)

If early imagery is any indication, "The Containment" is shaping up to be a bleak, faith-shattering descent that possession fans will want to keep firmly on their radar. Look for our review and a chat with star Gia Hunter here at TrulyDisturbing in the coming weeks.

"The Containment" opens exclusively in theaters on January 23, 2026.
