Getting hitched ain't for everyone but the new series "Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen" over on Netflix has us against the whole idea of "putting a ring on it" out of our heads completely.
Netflix’s eight-episode limited series started streaming as of yesterday, March 26, and with it comes a soundtrack that proves music is just as essential to the terror as the story itself.

The series follows Camila Morrone as Rachel Harkin, an anxious bride-to-be, and Adam DiMarco as her fiancé Nicky Cunningham, as they travel to a secluded vacation home in a snowy forest for an intimate wedding. Rachel’s superstition and paranoia turn the dream scenario into a nightmare filled with strange coincidences, unsettling guests, and a creeping sense that something terrible is waiting.
Showrunner Haley Z. Boston (Hunters, Brand New Cherry Flavor) brought in award-winning composer Colin Stetson (Hereditary, The Menu) early in the creative process, making him the first hire on the series. The resulting score mirrors the psychological tension of the show—unsettling, unpredictable, and at times almost unbearably intimate. Stetson’s music shifts seamlessly from dread to tragedy, from eerie intimacy to outright chaos, blending thundering metal-like dirges with sorrowful lamentations and even up-tempo, caper-like techno tracks.

“The music ranges all over the place,” Stetson says. “From the dreadful to the tragic, the sexy to the unhinged and comedic. There are tracks that thunder and howl like metal dirges and others like sorrowful lamentations, several up-tempo techno tracks weaving like a heist caper.”
The soundtrack—available digitally and as a limited edition vinyl—features 16 tracks including Are You Sure?, Bloodlines, The Bride, and the eponymous Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen.
Collectors can pre-order the special vinyl edition through At The Movies: 300 individually numbered copies pressed on 180-gram ‘Tie-and-Dye’ red and black swirled vinyl, perfect for fans of Stetson, the series, or both.
Jeff Wilbusch (Unorthodox), Karla Crome (Under the Dome), Gus Birney (Shining Vale), Jennifer Jason Leigh (The Hateful Eight), Ted Levine (The Silence of the Lambs), Sawyer Fraser (The Baby-Sitters Club), and Zlatko Burić (Triangle of Sadness) round out a cast that navigates the tension and dread, perfectly matched by Stetson’s score.
Directors Weronika Tofilska (Baby Reindeer), Axelle Carolyn (The Midnight Club), and Lisa Brühlmann (Killing Eve) guide each episode visually, but the music binds the series together, creating a hypnotic atmosphere of unease.
Stetson, a renowned saxophonist and composer from Ann Arbor, Michigan, studied under luminaries like Donald Sinta and Christopher Creviston and is known for pushing musical boundaries. His score for Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen continues that tradition, giving viewers a soundtrack as psychologically gripping as Rachel’s snowbound nightmare itself.
