If there's one panel we're already circling on our San Diego Comic-Con schedule, it's this one.
After attending the Aliens 40th Anniversary panel at WonderCon earlier this year, we left with one big takeaway: everyone involved knew they had made something special, even if they couldn't have predicted just how legendary the film would become.
During that WonderCon appearance, we had the opportunity to speak with several cast members, including Mark Rolston (Private Drake), Ricco Ross (Private Frost), and Jenette Goldstein (Private Vasquez). All three shared a similar sentiment. Working on Aliens felt different. There was an energy surrounding the production that suggested James Cameron wasn't simply making another sequel.
Forty years later, it's safe to say they were right.

Now, fans will get another chance to celebrate one of the greatest science fiction films ever made, as author and producer Renee Witterstaetter has confirmed that an official Aliens 40th Anniversary panel is headed to San Diego Comic-Con 2026.
The guest list is already loaded with familiar faces from LV-426, including Michael Biehn (Corporal Hicks), Mark Rolston (Private Drake), Ricco Ross (Private Frost), Jenette Goldstein (Private Vasquez), Carl Toop (Alien Warrior), William Hope (Lieutenant Gorman), Daniel Kash (Private Spunkmeyer), and Cynthia Scott (Corporal Dietrich). We have a sneaking suspicion we might get star Sigourney Weaver and Cameron himself to arrive for the panel but as of now, nothing has been confirmed for those two.
Released in 1986, Aliens remains one of the rare sequels that many fans place alongside, or even above, the original film. It's a movie that somehow expanded Ridley Scott's claustrophobic horror masterpiece into a larger-scale action horror epic without losing what made the xenomorph terrifying in the first place.
Of course, James Cameron has built an entire career on pulling off that trick. The man knows how to make a damn good flick, and to think, Roger Corman fired him off the set off Piranha 2!

Many fans point to Aliens as one of the greatest sequels ever made. Others make the same argument for Cameron's Terminator 2: Judgment Day. Either way, the filmmaker has a habit of creating movies that don't just succeed upon release, they endure for generations.
And Aliens has endured remarkably well.
From its practical creature effects and unforgettable one-liners to its influence on everything from video games to military science fiction, the film remains a cornerstone of genre cinema four decades later.
As for us? We're going to do everything possible to attend this panel and try to keep our chests from bursting from excitement while we're at it.
No official date, time, or room assignment has been announced yet, but if you're heading to San Diego Comic-Con this summer, this is already shaping up to be one of the convention's most anticipated celebrations.
Stay frosty and watch those corners.
