"Predator: Badlands" is finally heading home. After its theatrical run, the newest chapter in the Predator universe will hit digital platforms next week on January 6, 2026, before arriving on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on February 17. Fans can rent or own it across services like Prime Video, Apple TV, and YouTube Movies & TV.

The film, directed by Dan Trachtenberg (Prey, 10 Cloverfield Lane) and co-written with Patrick Aison (Prey), takes the franchise to a remote planet where a young Predator outcast seeks the ultimate adversary. Elle Fanning (The Neon Demon, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach) stars as Thia, joined by Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi as the Yautja warrior Dek. The pairing drives a story that pushes survival and unlikely alliances to the foreground.

Also featured are a range of talented performers contributing to the world of Badlands and its bonus content. The home release promises deleted scenes such as “Sand Trap” and “Tessa vs. Abe,” as well as featurettes like Embodying the Predator and Authentic Synthetics, giving fans a deeper look into how the film’s creatures and synth characters came to life. Commentary from Trachtenberg and key crew members adds another layer for collectors and enthusiasts.

Even with solid elements and franchise pedigree, Predator: Badlands wasn’t without its struggles at the box office. After a strong opening weekend of roughly $40 million domestically, the overall global take was only about $184 million, which left the movie well short of what it would need to be profitable when marketing and distribution costs are factored in. By traditional industry standards, films often need to make at least two to three times their production budget to break even, and current projections suggest Badlands could lose Disney more than $60 million on its theatrical run alone

That financial shortfall has broader implications. Rumored crossover projects such as a renewed Aliens vs. Predator film have quietly stalled, with industry observers pointing to Badlands’ underperformance as a major factor in studios reevaluating the franchise’s theatrical prospects.

Whether "Predator: Badlands" will find redemption on streaming and home video remains to be seen. Its unique focus on Yautja characters and world-building may give it legs beyond theaters, especially among franchise loyalists and collectors drawn to the extras and commentary. For now, the home release gives viewers a chance to witness the hunt at their own pace while Disney navigates what’s next for one of its most storied alien properties.
