One Last Trip to the Upside Down: "STRANGER THINGS Brings Hawkins' to Halloween Horror Nights

We've been attending Halloween Horror Nights since 2004, and every single year Universal somehow finds a way to raise the bar. Whether it's the haunted houses, scare zones, street atmosphere, or the army of scareactors lurking around every corner, HHN remains the gold standard of Halloween events.

For the past several years, one franchise has become as synonymous with Horror Nights as chainsaws and fog machines: Stranger Things.

Much like The Walking Dead before it, it felt as though we'd never escape the nightmare. Every year brought another trip to Hawkins, another encounter with Vecna, Demogorgons, and the unlucky kids caught in the middle of the Upside Down. Not that we're complaining. Some of the Stranger Things houses have been among the strongest experiences Universal has ever created.

We first heard whispers that this year might be different. Now it appears those rumors were true.

While we're not in the business of endless speculation, there are plenty of sites that are, we've heard from sources close to the event that this will likely be your final opportunity to step into the world of Stranger Things at Halloween Horror Nights. If that's the case, Universal appears determined to send the series out with one last trip into the darkness.

Universal Studios has officially announced that Stranger Things 5 will be coming to Halloween Horror Nights 2026 at both Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood, bringing the acclaimed Netflix series' fifth and final season to life in an all-new haunted house experience.

Developed in partnership with Netflix, the house will place guests directly into the events of the show's final season as the battle for Hawkins reaches its bloody conclusion.

According to Universal, guests will journey through some of the season's most iconic locations, including the Wheeler House, Hawkins National Laboratory, the MAC-Z military base, the Upside Down, and the mysterious Abyss. Along the way, visitors will encounter familiar faces, terrifying supernatural creatures, and of course, the fan-favorite nightmare fuel known as Vecna.

The official description teases that the barrier between reality and the supernatural has begun to collapse, unleashing darkness across Hawkins as guests fight their way through Demogorgons and other monstrous entities while attempting to survive the final showdown.

For longtime HHN fans, this announcement feels a bit bittersweet.

Stranger Things has become one of the defining intellectual properties of the modern Horror Nights era. Since first appearing at the event, the franchise has consistently drawn massive crowds and delivered some of the most memorable houses on both coasts. If this truly is the final chapter, it's hard to imagine a more fitting sendoff than allowing fans one last chance to experience the horrors of Hawkins firsthand.

Universal is also releasing a new wave of Stranger Things merchandise inspired by the haunted house. The collection includes an exclusive T-shirt, mug, and a new acrylic collectible figure designed to fit into the Infernal Carnival display series. Additional collectibles tied to this year's lineup are expected to be revealed in the coming months.

Halloween Horror Nights 2026 officially begins August 28 at Universal Orlando Resort and September 3 at Universal Studios Hollywood, running select nights through November 1.

Tickets are currently on sale for both coasts, with additional ticket options expected to be announced soon.

One thing is certain. Whether you've been visiting Hawkins since Season One or you've spent years running from Demogorgons at Halloween Horror Nights, the end is finally here.

The gate is opening one last time.

And we can't wait to walk through it.
