Dark Horse Comics is unleashing "Kingdom of Earth", a four-issue series that marks another electrifying comic venture from the critically acclaimed David Dastmalchian (Count Crowley, Through) alongside Leah Kilpatrick (Headless Horseman, DC Horror Presents), with Bram Stoker Award-winning artist Soo Lee (Carmilla, Minor Threats) and letterer Frank Cvetkovic (Cyberpunk 2077, Tramps of the Apocalypse), plunging readers into a world where humans are no longer the dominant species. Sounds a bit like a Planet of the Apes for Monsters, and we're totally in for it.
“It’s tempting to lose hope when monsters rule the world… right?! But thanks to the incredible passion of my creative partners on this book,” said Dastmalchian, “we’ve built a terrifying world where even a small flicker of hope survives amid an apocalyptic landscape. I love mash-ups, and this series is the ultimate one—every monster you’ve ever seen, read, or studied fights for dominance while a small group of humans schemes for survival and rebellion.

“I love bringing monsters and creatures that go bump in the night to life,” said Lee. “This is so different from what I’ve been working on lately, and thanks to my collaborators, I can challenge myself by making this dark, terrible world beautiful in my own way. I hope everyone is captivated by the world we’ve crafted in Kingdom of Earth.”
Here's the official synopsis for "Kingdom Of Earth"
In Kingdom of Earth:
-
Two years ago, hordes of monsters rose from the earth and sea, devouring everything in sight. Much of humanity was massacred before the monsters realized they needed humans. In this new world, humans face only two choices: service or slaughter. When a young child named Frankie narrowly escapes being turned into livestock, they quickly learn that the fight for survival has only just begun.
“I love monsters. Every culture has its own folklore, fables, and ghost stories that terrify people in unique ways,” added Kilpatrick. “Kingdom of Earth gives us the chance to draw from all of it. I’ve never seen a story—aside from one of my favorites, "Cabin in the Woods"—where every monster imaginable collides in one world of horror, chaos, and ambition. In KOE, nothing is off-limits. The fun is getting to know these creatures and giving them personalities, fears, and motives of their own.”
