Universal has just dropped two more major announcements for this year's Halloween Horror Nights, and fans of horror and gaming have plenty to be excited about. The iconic Evil Dead franchise is bringing its latest nightmare to the event with an all new haunted house inspired by Evil Dead Burn, while Fortnite's annual Fortnitemares celebration is crossing over into HHN for an immersive new scare zone.
Both experiences will debut at Universal Orlando Resort beginning Aug. 28 and Universal Studios Hollywood starting Sept. 3.
For horror fans, Evil Dead Burn marks the latest chapter in one of the genre's most beloved franchises. Since Sam Raimi introduced audiences to the Book of the Dead in 1981, Evil Dead has become synonymous with over the top gore, relentless Deadites, and dark humor. Inspired by the upcoming film, the haunted house will transport guests to the Price family's isolated vacation home deep in the woods, where they'll come face to face with terrifying Deadites and the demonic forces unleashed by the infamous Necronomicon.
Universal has also announced a new line of limited edition Evil Dead Burn merchandise, including a T-shirt, hat, and collectible acrylic figure, with more items expected to arrive later this Halloween season.
Gaming fans won't be left out of the scares either. In one of the more unexpected announcements for this year's event, Fortnite is making its Halloween Horror Nights debut with a scare zone inspired by the game's annual Fortnitemares event.
Guests will enter Freaky Fields, a haunted battlefield where they'll encounter the iconic Battle Bus, familiar Fortnitemares characters, and several all new characters created exclusively for Halloween Horror Nights. The scare zone promises an ever changing environment designed to capture the chaotic energy that has made Fortnitemares one of the game's most anticipated seasonal events.
A collection of Fortnitemares merchandise, including a graphic T shirt, decal set, and collectible acrylic figure, is also available at both Universal parks and through Shop Universal.
Halloween Horror Nights returns to Universal Orlando Resort on select nights from Aug. 28 through Nov. 1, while Universal Studios Hollywood runs Sept. 3 through Nov. 1. Universal says more haunted houses, scare zones, and additional event experiences will be revealed in the coming weeks.
With Evil Dead Burn bringing blood soaked terror and Fortnite introducing a fresh gaming crossover, Halloween Horror Nights continues to blur the line between horror's biggest franchises and pop culture's hottest properties. Whether you're looking to battle Deadites or survive Freaky Fields, this year's event is shaping up to offer something for every kind of horror fan.
