We had the chance to come face-to-face with Frendo at San Diego Comic-Con 2025, and let us tell you, the murderous mascot knows how to make an entrance. Tucked away inside a sprawling cornfield experience, Frendo stalked attendees through the rows with that unnerving grin plastered across his face, proving he didn't need to say a word to become one of the convention's standout horror attractions.
Now he's coming back for another round of bloodshed.
According to an exclusive report from Fangoria, Temple Hill Entertainment is officially moving forward with Clown in a Cornfield 2: Frendo Lives, adapting the second novel in Adam Cesare's hit slasher series into a feature film.
The sequel is expected to begin production later this year and, much like the original film, will closely follow Cesare's source material. This time around, Final Girl Quinn Maybrook leaves Kettle Springs behind for college, only to discover that escaping Frendo isn't nearly as easy as leaving town.
Hudson Morgan and Will Lowell have been tapped to pen the screenplay. The pair previously made names for themselves with several acclaimed Black List scripts and multiple television and feature projects.
One major piece of the puzzle is still missing, however.
Director Eli Craig, who helmed the first Clown in a Cornfield and co-wrote the screenplay with Carter Blanchard, has not yet been confirmed to return. Craig is currently attached to direct the upcoming holiday horror film White Elephant, leaving the door open as to who will guide Frendo's next massacre.
Then again, considering the success of the first film, it's hard to imagine anyone wanting to stray too far from the formula that worked.

Made on a reported $1 million budget, Clown in a Cornfield carved out nearly $14 million worldwide before finding an even larger audience through streaming. In today's horror landscape, that's the kind of return studios dream about. It proved that audiences still have an appetite for practical slashers, memorable killers and stories that don't require a blockbuster budget to leave a lasting impression.
Honestly, we'd be surprised if this ended with just a sequel.
Adam Cesare has already expanded the story across multiple novels, and horror history has shown that when a masked killer catches on with fans, studios rarely stop at two films. Frendo has all the ingredients of a modern slasher icon: a memorable look, a creepy mythology and a setting that instantly stands apart from the sea of haunted houses and abandoned asylums.
If the second film delivers, don't be shocked if Frendo sticks around for a trilogy or even beyond before someone finally sends him packing back into the cornfield like a Children of the Corn reject.
Cesare certainly isn't finished with the killer clown. The fourth novel in the series, Lights! Camera! Frendo!, arrives Aug. 18 and sends the murderous mascot to Hollywood following the events of Clown in a Cornfield 3: The Church of Frendo.
The synopsis for Clown in a Cornfield 2: Frendo Lives raises the stakes even further. After surviving the Kettle Springs massacre, Quinn heads to college hoping to leave her traumatic past behind. Instead, she finds herself at the center of online conspiracy theories claiming the massacre never happened. When Frendo resurfaces, targeting Quinn and her father simultaneously, she's forced to return to the very cornfields she fought so hard to escape.
One thing is becoming increasingly clear. Frendo isn't just another killer clown. He's quickly becoming one of horror's newest franchise players.
