It's been some time since we saw anything from "Hostel" and "Thanksgiving" director. Eli Roth. We don't want to say he left his fans out in the cold but his next film is going to be positively friged as the first teaser trailer for his new flick "ICE CREAM MAN" was released.

Set to hit theatres on August 7 through The Horror Section and Iconic Releasing, the film leans hard into Roth’s signature brand of cheerful cruelty.

An idyllic summer town descends into madness when an ice cream man serves kids sweet delights with horrifying results.

Co-written by Roth and longtime collaborator Noah Belson, the story centers on the quiet coastal town of Bayleen Bay. It’s the kind of place that looks perfect on the surface. Kids running around, sun out, nothing to worry about. Until the ice cream truck rolls in. What starts as a simple treat quickly spirals into something far more sinister, as the town’s youngest residents become entangled in something they don’t understand until it’s too late.

Ari Millen takes on the title role, bringing the kind of presence that suggests this isn’t your average friendly neighborhood vendor. He’s joined by a cast that includes Benjamin Byron Davis, Karen Cliche, Dylan Hawco, Sarah Abbott, Shiloh O’Reilly, Kiori Mirza Waldman, Charlie Zeltzer, and Charlie Storey, with Roth himself also appearing.

Behind the scenes, the film is stacking up talent in all the right places. The score includes contributions from Snoop Dogg, who’s also teaming up with Roth on another upcoming project, alongside composer Brandon Roberts. On the effects side, things are in experienced hands with Oscar-winning artist Adrien Morot and veteran effects specialist Steve Newburn, suggesting the film won’t be holding back when it comes to practical carnage.

Roth is producing alongside Kate Harrison, with Nas stepping in as executive producer through Mass Appeal. It’s an unusual mix of names, but that kind of collision has worked in horror’s favour before.

"Ice Cream Man" will also be making a presence at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, complete with promotional giveaways and appearances, giving audiences an early taste of what’s coming.

If Roth’s track record is anything to go by, whatever’s inside that truck isn’t going to be sweet for long.
