In an era where streaming libraries change overnight and rumors continue to swirl about the uncertain future of physical media, collectors have more reason than ever to hold onto tangible editions of the films they love.
Thankfully, companies like Scream Factory continue to remind us why physical media still matters.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Hostel, Scream Factory has announced an absolutely loaded Hostel 20th Anniversary 4K Ultra HD SteelBook Collector's Edition, arriving on October 13, 2026. The five-disc set includes both Hostel and Hostel: Part II, newly restored in 4K with filmmaker-approved transfers, along with a mountain of bonus features that should make even the most seasoned collector smile.
The Collector's Edition includes two 4K UHD discs and three Blu-rays packed with new and legacy special features. Both films receive brand new filmmaker-approved restorations, Dolby Vision presentations on the UHD releases, and newly recorded introductions from writer and director Eli Roth.
Fans can also dig into multiple audio commentaries featuring Roth, executive producer Quentin Tarantino, producer Boaz Yakin, Scott Spiegel, editor George Folsey Jr., cast members Barbara Nedeljakova, Eythor Gudjonsson, Richard Burgi, Lauren German, Vera Jordanova, and several behind the scenes collaborators.
The bonus material doesn't stop there. Returning featurettes include Hostel Dissected, Hostel Dismembered, Kill the Car!, KNB Effects featurettes, production design documentaries, deleted scenes, alternate endings, interviews, trailers, and galleries. New for this anniversary release are two extensive video journals, Pieces of Meat: The Hostel Video Journal and Tsunami of Blood: The Hostel Part II Video Journal, both created exclusively for the 2026 release.
Released in 2005, Hostel became one of the defining horror films of the decade, helping popularize what critics labeled the "torture porn" movement. Roth's brutal tale follows three backpackers traveling through Slovakia in search of sex, parties, and adventure, only to discover they've become merchandise for wealthy elites willing to pay enormous sums to torture and murder unsuspecting tourists.
Roth expanded that disturbing mythology with Hostel: Part II in 2007, shifting the perspective to both the victims and the members of the mysterious Elite Hunting Club. While Hostel: Part III would continue exploring that world, it was produced without Roth's involvement and is not included in this anniversary collection.
Love the films or hate them, there's no denying the impact Hostel had on modern horror. It sparked endless debates, generated controversy around the world, and cemented Eli Roth as one of horror's most recognizable modern filmmakers.
