Bring on more Xenos! After the visceral success of "Alien: Romulus", 20th Century Films has reportedly set its sights on Michael Sarnoski. You might be familiar with some of his earlier work in both "Pig" and "A Quiet Place: Day One", as the preferred candidate to guide the next chapter of the franchise.
Sarnoski’s name has been circulating quietly in Hollywood circles, and insiders tell Nexus Point News that he’s now the frontrunner to bring the "Romulus" follow-up to life. Known for his ability to inject tension into intimate, character-driven stories, Sarnoski presents a different kind of threat: one that could blend human vulnerability with the Xenomorphs’ signature terror. His upcoming projects include "The Death of Robin Hood" starring Hugh Jackman and a big-screen adaptation of the video game "Death Stranding", proving he’s no stranger to high-stakes cinematic worlds.
Fede Álvarez and Rodo Sayagues, who penned the sequel’s script, will remain involved as producers. Álvarez has been clear that his departure from directing the follow-up was always part of the plan: a single ride through the Alien universe before handing the keys to another filmmaker. He and Sayagues crafted the script with care, ensuring beloved characters like Marie Raines “Rain” Carradine and Andy survive long enough to face whatever new horrors await.

The pressure is palpable. "Alien: Romulus" grossed over $350 million and earned an 80% score on Rotten Tomatoes, reinvigorating a franchise that has a habit of swapping out familiar faces for new victims in each installment. Fans are understandably on edge: can Sarnoski maintain the relentless tension and body horror that made Romulus a modern classic, or will the series lose its claws without Álvarez in the director’s chair?
Casting updates are minimal but promising. Cailee Spaeny and David Jonsson are expected to reprise their roles, giving Sarnoski at least a tether to the world Álvarez built. How he will handle the Xenomorphs, the claustrophobic terror, and the thin line between survival and obliteration remains to be seen.

For now, the hunt is on — and the studio believes Sarnoski may be the one capable of delivering a sequel that honors the franchise’s legacy while stalking into entirely new nightmares.
