It’s been years since "IT: Chapter Two" wrapped things up in 2019, but Andy Muschietti still wasn't done with Pennywise as he took on showrunner duties for "Welcome To Derry" which did gangbusters over on HBO. Yet something about those two films made Muschietti want more.
For a while now, he’s talked about putting together a massive cut that would merge both "IT" films into one long, stitched-together version, with extra footage added. The idea is to turn it into a single viewing experience that runs well past six hours.
“We didn’t have time to do it because we were involved in all kind of projects,” Muschietti tells Slash Film. “The show had a priority over the supercut,” he makes note of, referring to "Welcome To Derry."

This makes total sense as "Welcome to Derry" is set for a second season and will be traveling even further back in time and in Pennywise's past to see how this evil entity can be stopped.
Muschietti continues, “We’re in a moment now where we can definitely go to the studio and ask for support, but when is the question. They can say, ‘Yeah, go for it,’ but now we are sort of committed, like happily committed, to season 2 of ‘Welcome to Derry.’ And there’s other movie projects going around. But we’re going to do it.”
The original films split Stephen King’s novel into two timelines, one following the Losers Club as kids and the other as adults. This extended cut would likely weave those storylines together in a way that feels closer to how the book unfolds.
On top of all that, Muschietti’s schedule isn’t getting any lighter. Alongside the "IT" universe, he’s also attached to direct "The Brave and the Bold", bringing Batman into the new DCU.
So yeah, the supercut is still coming. Just don’t hold your breath waiting for it. We'll have more news as we get it.
