The first time we saw Behemoth, we remember leaving the venue thinking about the crowd almost as much as the band. Some people looked completely blown away. Others looked unsure what they'd just witnessed. That's Behemoth's sweet spot. They will scare the hell out of you, fill you with wonderment, all in the same show.
A lot of bands use religious imagery because they know it'll get a reaction. Behemoth has built an entire career around creating an atmosphere that feels genuinely uncomfortable at times. The stage production, the imagery, the way Nergal commands a room, it all feels less like entertainment and more like you're watching something you probably weren't supposed to stumble into.
Now the Polish extreme metal veterans are back with a new release titled I, Scvlptor, arriving September 4, 2026 through Massacre Records and Nuclear Blast Records.
The title track debuted this week alongside a new video created by Grupa 13, a production team that has worked closely with the band for years. The cover artwork was once again handled by longtime collaborator Bartek Rogalewicz of LODGE.BLACK.

Speaking about the song, Nergal said:
"'I, Scvlptor' is a new Behemoth song rooted in the tradition of monumental tracks like 'O Father O Satan O Sun!', 'Lucifer' or 'Nieboga Czarny Xiądz', while at the same time opening a new chapter. It carries that epic weight but also takes an unexpected turn that makes it feel fresh and different from the previous pieces. Lyrically, it is a metaphor for the endless process of shaping oneself, an uneven struggle with matter and personal limitations. The paradox is that from the moment we are born we are already destined to die, so perhaps it is not about victory itself, but about the constant act of sculpting who we are."
While I, Scvlptor isn't being presented as a full studio album, fans shouldn't dismiss it as a simple collection of leftovers. The release contains material that has never been heard before, along with new recordings that reach all the way back to Behemoth's early years.
Nergal explained:
"We're fucking excited about the release of I, Scvlptor. Even though it's not a regular studio album and is, in fact, more of a compilation, the mere fact that it contains songs nobody has ever heard before makes it a significant release for us. What's more, some of these tracks are likely a little different from what we offered on our last album, The Shit Ov God. That's why we see I, Scvlptor as an important record, a connecting piece, a bridge between where we are now and whatever may come next in the distant future."
What caught our attention immediately was the inclusion of newly recorded versions of "Rise of the Blackstorm of Evil" and "In Thy Pandemaeternum." If you've followed Behemoth since the early days, you already know those titles carry some history. The release also includes a Venom cover featuring Shagrath of Dimmu Borgir and a Bathory tribute featuring Sakis Tolis of Rotting Christ. That's the kind of lineup that gets old school extreme metal fans reaching for their wallets before they even hear the songs.

I, Scvlptor arrives September 4. Until then, the title track is already available, and if it's any indication of what's coming, Behemoth still isn't interested in playing it safe.
