Australian horror continues clawing its way from the "Out Back", and the next nightmare headed for UK audiences looks drenched in religious paranoia, buried trauma, and supernatural vengeance. Lightbulb Film Distribution has officially announced that "Diabolic" will arrive in the UK and Ireland on May 25 across Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital platforms.

Directed by Daniel J. Phillips, whose previous work includes the unsettling horror film Awoken, Diabolic looks to lean heavily into psychological dread before unleashing something far more sinister. The Australian-produced supernatural horror stars Elizabeth Cullen, John Kim, Mia Challis, and Terence Crawford.

The film follows Elise, a young woman haunted by terrifying blackouts who returns to the isolated religious compound where she was raised. But revisiting the past quickly spirals into something far more dangerous as she uncovers long-buried secrets connected to an ancient ritual and the wrathful spirit of a cursed witch.

If that premise alone doesn’t already sound like a sleepless night waiting to happen, the film’s atmosphere seems determined to make audiences squirm. According to Sales & Acquisitions Director Peter Thompson, Diabolic delivers a deeply unsettling experience loaded with creeping dread and brutal jump scares.

“We are thrilled to be bringing Diabolic to audiences in the UK & Ireland,” Thompson stated. “Director Daniel J. Phillips has crafted a deeply atmospheric horror feature, and Elizabeth Cullen shines as Elise, a troubled young woman searching for answers after leaving a Mormon fundamentalist group. It’s a genuinely creepy ride, filled with dread, and plenty of jump scares!”

Religious horror has always carried a uniquely disturbing edge. We grew up very religious, so it hits home for sure. The collision between faith, isolation, repression, and the supernatural tends to leave scars that linger long after the credits roll. Diabolic looks ready to tap directly into that discomfort, dragging viewers through cursed rituals and psychological torment beneath the suffocating weight of a secluded religious community.

For horror fans who like their nightmares soaked in occult terror and emotional collapse, this one may be worth keeping firmly on the radar.
