If there was ever a video game capable of making grown adults question every dark hallway, ventilation shaft, and unexpected noise in their own home, it was Alien: Isolation.

Released in 2014, the survival horror masterpiece from Creative Assembly terrified players in a way few games ever have. It didn't rely on endless action or an arsenal of weapons. Instead, it trapped players in a nightmare where hiding was often the smartest option and every encounter with a Xenomorph felt like a potential heart attack. The kind of game that could leave you sweating with the lights on and the sun shining through the window.

Now, after years of rumors and wishful thinking from fans, Alien: Isolation 2 has officially been revealed during Summer Game Fest 2026.

The teaser trailer doesn't give away much, but it delivers exactly what fans hoped for: scary-ass atmosphere. The footage showcases a storm-battered world where a crashed spacecraft sits abandoned against a hostile landscape. As expected, something deadly appears to be lurking inside.

For longtime fans of the franchise, that's more than enough.

The original Alien: Isolation occupies a unique place within the larger Alien mythology. Set roughly 15 years after Ridley Scott's 1979 masterpiece, the game follows Amanda Ripley, daughter of Ellen Ripley, as she investigates the disappearance of her mother aboard the doomed Sevastopol Station. Its commitment to recreating the look, sound, and tension of the original film earned widespread praise and helped cement it as one of the greatest horror games ever made.

The timing of this sequel also feels right. Since Disney's acquisition of 20th Century Studios, the Alien franchise has experienced a major resurgence. The massive success of Alien: Romulus proved audiences are still eager to be terrified by Xenomorphs, while anticipation continues to build for Predator: Badlands. With new films, television projects, collectibles, comics, and now a long-awaited game sequel, it seems clear that Disney intends to keep these legendary sci-fi horror properties active for years to come.

Whether Alien: Isolation 2 can recapture the lightning-in-a-bottle terror of its predecessor remains to be seen. That's a tall order.

Alien: Isolation 2 is currently in development for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. No release date has been announced.

If the trailer is any indication, though, we're all going to be hiding in lockers again sooner rather than later.
