"Alien: Earth" Season 2 Begins Filming At Pinewood — Can FX Redeem the Series?

We didn’t much care for how "Alien: Earth" wrapped up its first season. It felt like a promising ride that lost its way — all setup with none of the real horror payoff we were hoping for. But Stranger Things have crawled out of worse story pits, and now FX has greenlit a second season that begins shooting this May. Maybe, just maybe, they can redeem the show yet.

Star Sydney Chandler revealed to Deadline that cameras will roll at London’s legendary Pinewood Studios in May, the same ground where the original "Alien" films and "Prometheus" were filmed. Chandler hasn’t seen any new scripts yet, which, honestly, sounds both optimistic and terrifying — like knowing you’ll face a xenomorph but having no clue whether you brought a flamethrower or a squirt gun.

Series creator Noah Hawley says he’s grateful to keep stretching the weirdness of this universe with the cast and crew so we shall see just how weird things can get. The series did gangbusters at San Diego Comic Con in 2025, and with the show getting major hype from all the major outlets and fans, it made total sense that a second season was needed and wanted.

The show’s setup — Earth in 2120, five mega‑corporations running things like feudal warlords, and a crashed alien ship that reveals an existential threat — has promise if it ever leans into the dread it teeters on. With a cast that includes Chandler alongside Timothy Olyphant, Alex Lawther, Essie Davis, and more, the pieces are in place. Now we just need the story to start delivering real terror.

Whether Alien: Earth Season 2 becomes the horror renaissance we want or just another space opera with spooky lighting, we’ll be watching. And hoping.
