Last year, we were fortunate enough to experience the incredible Alien: Earth offsite during San Diego Comic-Con 2025, followed by the privilege of sitting inside Hall H for the world premiere of the series's first episode. From the moment we stepped inside that immersive experience, it was clear FX had something special on its hands.
What we didn't expect was just how quickly audiences would embrace Noah Hawley's terrifying new chapter in the Alien universe.
Now, with production officially underway on Season 2, new casting announcements have emerged as the series prepares to return to Earth... and beyond.
According to Deadline, Tracey Ullman (Tracey Ullman's Show), Sam Spruell (A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms), and Jerome Flynn (Game of Thrones) have all joined the cast for the upcoming season. They join previously announced newcomer Peter Dinklage, though character details for all four actors remain tightly under wraps.
Production is currently taking place at the legendary Pinewood Studios in London, a fitting homecoming for the franchise. The historic studio served as the filming location for Alien, Aliens, Alien 3, and Prometheus. Adding another layer of history, Season 2 production designer Neil Lamont is the son of original Alien production designer Peter Lamont.
Set in the year 2120, Alien: Earth explores a future where five powerful corporations hold more influence than entire nations. After a mysterious spacecraft crashes on Earth, a young woman and a team of tactical soldiers uncover a horrifying discovery that places humanity face to face with one of the deadliest threats in science fiction history.
Series creator Noah Hawley recently teased what's ahead for the sophomore season.
"It certainly expands on the promise of the first. It's a bigger show, more world-building, and I can't think of a better place for taking on that bigger challenge."
Returning cast members include Sydney Chandler, Timothy Olyphant, Alex Lawther, Samuel Blenkin, Babou Ceesay, Adrian Edmondson, David Rysdahl, Essie Davis, Lily Newmark, Erana James, Adarsh Gourav, Jonathan Ajayi, Kit Young, Diêm Camille, Moe Bar-El, and Sandra Yi Sencindiver.
Beyond Alien: Earth, Hawley is also attached to direct a remake of the acclaimed Argentine horror film Terrified for Warner Bros.
With production now officially underway and the first season proving to be one of the year's biggest genre successes, we're eager to see where Hawley takes the franchise next. If Season 1 was any indication, the nightmare is only getting started.
