You don’t have to go to a separate music label for a chainsaw massacre soundtrack.
High-quality, vinyl releases of horror movie soundtracks have been the in thing for a few years now. Coexisting right alongside fine purveyors of high-quality DVD/Blu-Ray have been horror (or just film in general)-centric music labels like Waxwork and Death Waltz Records. Now, however, one of those video labels, is looking to make a little music, too.
Arrow Video has launched a new subsidiary called Arrow Music. News of their first release came right alongside news of the label’s formation: the soundtrack to 1982’s ‘Pieces’. Juan Piquer Simon’s cult classic boasts a track-listing that features work by Fabio Frizzi (Zombie), Stelvio Cipriani (Bay of Blood), and Carlo Maria Cordio (Troll 2).
The record will be released on August 25th, but preorders are open now on Zavvi with the production run limited to 500 pieces. The remaining specs are as follows:
“This limited clear vinyl edition of the Pieces soundtrack has been newly-mastered from the original 1/4″ analogue tapes by James Plotkin and is presented on 180 gram wax, housed inside a 350gsm sleeve. The edition features newly commissioned artwork by Marc Schoenbach and accompanying film notes by Stephen Thrower.”
