Robert Englund Shines Light On Why FREDDY VS. JASON VS. ASH Never happened.

Over the weekend we got to enjoy the sights, sounds, and screams at Monsterpalooza in Pasadena California. One highlight was the question and answer panel for Freddy Kreuger himself, Robert Englund. Englund had a few great stories to tell but one thing that caught our attention was his mention of Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash. Find out what he had to say about the proposed film below.

Robert Englund is known for his great ability to tell tales and really bring you into the actors mindset and way of thinking with the way he speaks to an audience. He was in grand form over the weekend at Monsterpalooza during his question and answer panel and we got some inside scoop on why sequel to Freddy vs. Jason, (which was slated to be Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash) never happened.

“Well I wanted to do it (Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash) but Bob Shay and the folks at New Line were not into it. They wanted to sell their properties like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Friday The 13th, and the Nightmare on Elm Street franchises to Michael Bay’s company, Platinum Dunes, so they can be rebooted or remade. They did this with varying success. Some of these were good, some were just OK. The kibosh on the whole deal was that they (Platinum Dunes) wanted Ash to win, which I thought was a great idea. New Line didn’t want Freddy to loose again in another film though. Like they couldn’t just resurrect Freddy later on in another absurd way right? Shit, in one of the movies I got resurrected by dog piss! ANYWAY, They didn’t want me to lose twice in a row. It’s a real shame because I can just imagine the poster; Bruce Campbell, in his forties, with his shirt unbuttoned, me and Kane Hodder (Jason Voorhees) trapped in a headlock and the byline would read “Keeping The World Safe…From Sequels.” Oh well!”

Well at least we have the comic books to wet our appetite. One can hope though…right? We are still hoping this series works out. Ash vs. Evil Dead is a hit on STARZ so maybe we could finally see these three horror heavyweights duke it out soon. Call your congressman people! Make it happen!
