This is an amazing looking documentary on Godzilla. It’s a not-for-profit doctoral project by Spanish producer/director Jonathan Bellés – and it’s entitled Godzilla & Hiroshima: The Dawn of the Kaiju Eiga. Read on for some preliminary details.
Bellés is putting the doc together through his production company Producciones 451, headquartered n Valencia, Spain. Bellés told blogger Armand Vaquer that Godzilla & Hiroshima will also include Gamera, Ultraman, and other monsters in the genre.
Although financing for the documentary is limited since it is a doctoral project for Bellés, he intends to travel to Japan, the United States, and elsewhere to interview actors, producers, critics, and others. Plus, he has more than just interviews planned for Japan. “I want to travel to Hiroshima to visit the Peace Memorial Museum mainly. I will visit the Lucky Dragon No. 5 [in Tokyo] also,” said Bellés. We wish them the best because we REALLY want this to be done well.
He hopes to have Godzilla & Hiroshima: The Dawn of the Kaiju Eiga completed and released by summer 2014.
