In recent weeks Legendary Pictures left its partnership with Warner Bros. In doing that the floodgates have opened to other studios to try and snatch up Legendary’s projects. Universal won the bidding war and it looks as if the first collaboration will be Dracula. Read on for the goods!
Variety reports that the first project the two companies might collaborate on is the upcoming Dracula film which is slated to open August 8, 2014. Formerly known as Dracula Year Zero, the film is starring Luke Evans and is directed by Gary Shore.
If Thomas Tull of Legendary decides to board Dracula, and his company pumps a bit of money into the budget, it could shape the film a bit creatively. That’s not to say the film is in a good or bad place currently, but Legendary might add a bit of flourish to it to suit their desires. We hope for a Dracula tale that really has bite..get it..BITE!
Variety adds that Legendary could also collaborate on Jurassic Park 4, shooting next year, and the upcoming Mummy film at Universal.
This is what we have so far on the Dracula redux.
Said to explore the origin of the character, Dracula weaves vampire mythology with the true history of Prince Vlad the Impaler. It seeks to depict Dracula as a flawed hero in a tragic love story set in a dark age of magic and war.
