Arnold Schwarzenegger Getting Into The Zombie Business

Well he did say “I’ll be back.”  I just didn’t think it meant in this sense.  Read on for the details.

Arnold Schwarzenegger wants a piece of that zombie action that’s currently the rage on TV and in movies: he’s just signed up to play the father of a girl going ghoul in “Maggie.”

According to Variety, Schwarzenegger is also a producer on the movie, in which he’ll play a man who is helping his 16-year-old daughter cope with becoming a zombie after a virus spreads across the country. In this particular story, it takes about six months to turn into a member of the walking dead instead of the usual minute or so.
The script, which was written by John Scott 3, made the prestigious Black List of best unproduced screenplays in Hollywood back in 2011. The film will mark the directorial debut of Henry Hobson, whose IMDB credits list mostly main title and end credit designs on films like “Snow White and the Huntsman” and the 2011 prequel to “The Thing.”
Production is slated to begin this fall. Although “Kick-Ass” and “Carrie” star Chloe Grace Moretz had been in talks to play the title role at one point, she is no longer attached and a new female lead has yet to be named.

Schwarzenegger also recently confirmed that he will be appearing in his signature role as the T-800 cyborg in “Terminator 5,” which producers hope to begin filming in early 2014. Recent rumors have also suggested that Dwayne Johnson was being courted for a part in the movie, although those stories now seem to have been debunked.
There’s no word yet on a release date or distributor for “Maggie,” but let’s hope they get it out there before the coming zombie genre burnout.
