Get India’s “Killer” Look, And Pick Up The Blu-ray!
Academy Award® Winner Nicole Kidman*, Mia Wasikowska and Matthew Goode star in this “darkly wicked, beautifully executed mystery” (Los Angeles Times) by critically acclaimed filmmaker Park Chan-wook (Oldboy).
Following the tragic death of her father on her eighteenth birthday, India Stoker (Wasikowska) meets Charlie (Goode), her charismatic uncle, whom she never knew existed. When Charlie moves in with India and her unstable mother (Kidman), both are drawn to his charming and calming demeanor. But it soon becomes clear that Charlie’s arrival was no coincidence, and that the shocking secrets of his past could affect India’s future…or shatter it completely.
Inspired by the Blu-ray and DVD, available this week, we’ve compiled a few tips to help you build your own killer wardrobe. India’s dark secrets and wardrobe make her a murderous fashionista, which of these tips fits your style?
Think ‘Simple Statement’ Colors
India Stoker is a mysterious and complex young woman. While her wardrobe isn’t necessarily eye-catching in its pattern, the colors make a statement, with rich and elegant hues of dark hunter green gleaming from her silk blouse. You can get this look by choosing your basics (t-shirts, pants, skirts) in electrifying colors like cobalt blue or a knee length skirt in deep burgundy.
Mix Dainty with Dangerous
The costume design for Stoker is very classic and timeless, and plays up the feminine mystique with a soft take on this fall’s granny style trend. Taking a cue from her mother’s (Nicole Kidman) classic pieces, India borrows plenty of pieces from the matriarch’s wardrobe, but adds an edge by wearing her father’s accessories. Take this look off -screen by adding soft patterns and form fitting blouses with a tweed fabric blazer, even better if you borrow it from your favorite beau.
Less is More … Unless More Looks Good
While we don’t see India wearing make-up in many scenes, she does share an iconic moment where her mother is helping her apply lipstick. India’s porcelain complexion matches the neutral tone of her style until the lipstick is applied, making her face standout and come more alive. Choose one part of your face to highlight with color, but apply heavily to draw attention to your best asset. Bring out your eyes with eyeliner in a saturated tone or rose your cheeks with a tinted blush.
Line Up You’re “Accessories”
India adopts one of her father’s belts and incorporates it into her wardrobe. The belt quickly becomes a style staple and a self-defense tool in…unavoidable situations. We suggest finding a favorite accessory to pair with a range of outfits; try a bangle with a touch of leather weaving or even spikes. Whether it’s a casual weekend or an evening killing spree, you’re sure to look your best, effortlessly.
