From the pages of Empire’s upcoming April issue, we nabbed this new image of Jane Levy in all her bloody glory.
Synopsis: Five twenty-something friends who become holed up in a remote cabin where they discover a Book Of The Dead. An archaeologist’s tape recording reveals that the ancient text was discovered among the Khandarian ruins of a Sumerian civilization. Playing the taped incantations, the youths unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.
Empire chatted with director Fede Alvarez and this is what she had to say about the project. “The very first question we asked ourselves was, ‘What is a relevant way to tell the story today?’ and then, ‘Why would a group of people lug themselves up to a cabin in the middle of the woods?’ ‘Just for fun’ didn’t cut it for me – I wanted to do something more interesting, and so the drugs intervention plot came from that, and it just kicks you into a more interesting story straightaway.” Alvarez continues “one minute they’re dealing with real things, ‘real’ problems, and then suddenly that book shows up…”
