Even though Legendary’s upcoming Godzilla rehash has been dealing with legal woes, it still seems to be on track and now screenwriter, Frank Darabont gives some insight into “Big G’s” origins. Read on for the details.
Recently i09 caught up with Darabont, who had this to say…
“What we’re trying to do with the new movie is not have it camp, not have it be campy,” Darabont tells the site. “We’re kind of taking a cool new look at it… We want this to be a terrifying force of nature. And what was really cool, for me, is there was a very compelling human drama that I got to weave into it. It’s not that cliched, thinly disguised romance or bromance or whatever. It’s different; it’s a different set of circumstances than you’re used to seeing.” When asked if he had plans to follow in the footsteps of the original film and connect the plot to a more contemporary issue he replied, “Yes, I am, but I’m not going to give it away.”
Godzilla is still on course to begin production in March with the film dated for a May 16, 2014, release.
