THE ORPHANAGE remake COULD still happen

The English language remake of The Orphanage may not be dead yet. Read on for the news.

A report in Screen Daily reveals the production outfit behind the original film – Rodar y Rodar – still intends to redo Juan Antonio Bayona’s film, but doesn’t give a clear indication as to where it is at in development.

Here’s the report from Screen Daily along with word of another thriller on the remake slab: Julia’s Eyes. Sheesh, how many remakes well we get in 2013…the way it is looking, a lot!

With an estimate budget of $13-16m, the company is working on new international versions of The Uninvited Guest (original by Guillem Morales in 2004), horror film The Orphanage from JA Bayona, Julias Eye’s (Guillem Morales, 2010) and The Boyd (Oriol Paulo, 2012).

In The Orphanage, a woman brings her family back to her childhood home, where she opens an orphanage for handicapped children. Before long, her son starts to communicate with an invisible new friend.
