Olive Films releasing TICKS and the 30th Anniversary edition of CUJO both on Blu-Ray

This has us suuper excited. Sure there is a great Cujo Blu-Ray already out there by Lionsgate but shit man, Ticks is coming to Blu-Ray! That is epic!. Read on for the details.

Olive Films’ release of Ticks is being billed as a “20th Anniversary Edition” even though it could just as easily be touted as “First-Time Ever on…” seeing how the underrated film has never received a proper DVD release, let alone Blu-ray.

Hellbound: Hellraiser 2 director Tony Randel helmed this skin-crawling creature feature about mutant ticks that infest the adorable Ami Dolenz (Blood Wings: Pumpkinhead 2), a pre-“Family Guy”/”Robot Chicken”/Austin Powers Seth Green, “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” co-star Alfonso Ribeiro, Children of the Corn 2: The Final Sacrifice survivor Rosalind Allen, Tom Hanks’ “Bosom Buddies” better half Peter Scolari, and the living legend that is Clint Howard.

A group of troubled teenagers are led by social workers on a California wilderness retreat, not knowing that the woods they are camping in have become infested by mutated, blood-sucking ticks.

No word yet on disc specs or special features other than a commentary track with director Tony Randel and maybe a cast member.

Cujo was already released on Blu-ray by Lionsgate several years back, and that disc is neither hard-to-find nor pricey so color me a little surprised to hear Olive Films is re-releasing it on DVD and Blu-ray as a “30th Anniversary Edition”. Aside from a new commentary track with director Lewis Teague, there has been no word yet from Olive Films as to what exactly will make this release more lucrative than the previous.

No official release date has been announced for either film, but the expectation is that both will be released sometime in January of next year.
