John Cusack set to star in Stephen King’s CELL

As of right now, you can check out Cusack in The Paperboy which is an excellent flick but we love horror here so that’s what ya’ll are gonna get. Read on for the news about Cusack being in the adaptation of King’s novel Cell below.

Screen Daily is reporting that Cusack will play the lead in Cell, a production which reteams much of the crew behind another successful King adaptation, 1408 – in which Cusack also starred.

Cargo Entertainment will finance the production, which is to be produced by former Dimension Films president of production Richard Saperstein, along with colleagues Brian Witten and Shara Kay.

Cell is based on King’s novel about a father’s desperate journey to find his wife and son in the wake of a catastrophic pulse transmitted via mobile phones.

The best news? King co-wrote the screenplay with The Last House on the Left screenwriter Adam Alleca. No director has been signed yet, although hopefully this project will attract some talent.

“I’m thrilled to be working with Stephen and John again,” said Saperstein. “Cell is an intelligent psychological thriller that delivers on both a visceral and emotional level.”

“Stephen King is a legendary storyteller and the master at this genre,” said Cargo CEO Marina Grasic. “We believe the reteaming of King with Cusack is a winning combination that audiences around the world will want to see.”
