Well, it was rumored for quite some time that a Ghostbusters 3 was in the future. Now it looks like the news is here. Read on fiends.
Deadline reports that the current schedule calls for Ivan Reitman to return as director with a summer 2013 production start being targeted.
Dan Aykroyd previously confirmed reports that the plot will revolve around a new generation of Ghostbusters and hinted at the states of his and Harold Ramis’ characters.
“My character, Ray, is now blind in one eye and can’t drive the Cadillac,” he said, “He’s got a bad knee and can’t carry the packs… Egon is too large to get into the harness. We need young blood and that’s the promise. We’re gonna hand it to a new generation.”
Etan Cohen was recently brought in to rewrite the script, working from a draft by Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg.
If the flick hits its production mark, it could potentially be released on the first Ghostbuster films 30th anniversary.
