The KING has returned. GODZILLA vs. BIOLLANTE comes to Blu-Ray

The King of Monsters, Godzilla, is making his way to Blu-Ray this season with Godzilla vs. Biollate. Read on for all the goods.

It is well known that I do NOT like Echo Bridge and their lack luster presentation of awesome films. Yet…I might have to give them a second chance.

Echo Bridge – working with both Godzilla owners Toho and Miramax (owners of the domestic rights) – look to be getting ahead of the curve with the announcement that they will be releasing Godzilla vs. Biollanteon DVD and Blu-ray for the first-time ever for American audiences.

The disc is set to drop on December 4th.

According to Toho Kingdom, the print is expected to be taken from Toho’s pristine Japanese Blu-ray release. That means it will be seen in its original, widescreen aspect ratio with two Japanese audio tracks (2.0 stereo and 5.1 surround) with freshly commissioned English subtitles. For those that hate to read and love bad English dubbing, the Miramax English dub with Australian-sounding accents will be included.

No word on special features officially but it is expected that a48-minute “making of” feature and another 10-minute featurette imported from the Japanese release. In addition, there will be a commentary track by “Japanese Giants” editor Ed Godziszewski, who can be heard on numerous other American releases of Toho monster movies detailing the history and inside stories behind the various films.

Echo Bridge’s Godzilla vs. Biollante DVD will retail for $6.99 and the Blu-ray for $14.99 but right now you can pre-order the Blu-ray from Amazon for only $7.99.

Will Godzilla get the respect he deserves on Blu-Ray? We really, really hope so.
