Carrie is being remade (again) and now we’ve got some pretty bloody awesome (get it? Bloody?) shots of its stars. Read on for the details.
Kick-Ass actress Chloë Moretz recreates the blood-soaked prom dress scene from the 1976 horror classic Carrie in the first pictures from the upcoming big screen remake.
“We only have, like, four chances to get it right. Because that stuff stains your hair,” Chloë told the magazine of filming the scene using fake blood.
Directed by Boys Don’t Cry’s Kimberly Peirce, the new Carrie promises a more character-driven approach than the original shocker about a teen girl bullied at school who gets her own back when she develops telekinetic powers.
At only 15, Chloë is around the age of her troubled character Carrie White, while Sissy Spacek was 27 when she made the original film (she scored an Oscar nomination for the role, and won an Oscar four years later for The Coal Miner’s Daughter).
The other new image reveals Julianne Moore, long overdue for an Oscar herself, as Carrie’s abusive Christian fundamentalist mother Margaret.
Based on Stephen King’s first published novel, Carrie is often considered to be one of the scariest movies of all time. It spawned an unsuccessful 1999 sequel, The Rage: Carrie 2, a 2002 TV remake and even a Broadway musical.
For Chloë, it’s another horror remake. She first creeped the bejesus out of us as a kid vampire in Let Me In, the 2010 American remake of the Swedish film Let the Right One In.
In May, she starred opposite a blood-sucking Johnny Depp in Tim Burton’s horror-comedy remake of the ’60s TV series, Dark Shadows.
She also appeared as “Scary Girl” in an awesome online parody of creepy horror movie kids by Will Ferrell’s Funny or Die.
