Stanley Kubrick’s THE SHINING returns to UK cinemas this fall

It can be argued that Stanley Kubrick’s epic Stephen King adaptation, The Shining, could be the greatest horror movie ever made. Well fiends in the UK will get to experience why. Read on for these awesome details for our chaps across the pond.

The Hollywood Reporter is stating that the fine folks at the British Film Institute will be bringing The Shining back to UK cinemas.

The BFI said it plans to release the U.S. version of the film – never before released in the U.K. – for Halloween this year. The U.S. version is 144 minutes long, some 24 minutes longer than the European version previously released in 1980.

Based on Stephen King’s bestselling novel, Kubrick’s tale of a family man and would-be writer (Nicholson) going mad as winter caretaker of the cursed Overlook Hotel is a seminal work of the genre.

Martin Scorsese has pointed out the movie is like no other horror film ever made, describing it as “essentially unclassifiable, endlessly provocative and profoundly disturbing.”
