The man known for the macabre, director Tim Burton, is asked about Dark Shadows’ comedic tone, the Beetlejuice sequel, and if he has any interest in returning to the Batman franchise.
MTV News caught up with Tim Burton and asked him about the negative backlash that he has received from Dark Shadows fans that are concerned with the trailers and commercials that are selling the film as a comedy.
“It’s not like I’m being campy with it or anything. The guy’s been locked in a box for 200 years, and [when] he comes out … something weird is going to happen.”
To be fair much of the humor has been of the fish-out-of-water variety, and you can only imagine that it will be present for the first act. At some point Barnabas will become accustomed to the present day.
In other news, MTV asked Burton about Beetlejuice 2, which is being written by Dark Shadows’ scribe Seth Grahame-Smith.
“He’s working away on it so I’m just waiting to see what he does.”
