A Las Vegas man accused of trying to have his wife murdered as a birthday present to himself was arrested after allegedly enlisting an undercover police officer to carry out the hit.
Jorge Victorino-Vazquez, 32, has been charged with burglary, conspiracy and solicitation to commit murder after allegedly trying to schedule his wife’s killing for Monday, which was his birthday.
According to an arrest report, Vazquez offered an undercover police officer $2000 to break into his house, beat him up, steal some belongings and kill his wife.
The pair met at a casino-restaurant on April 19 to discuss the alleged murder plot after an informant tipped police off, Fox News reports.
“Vazquez explained he wanted his wife killed because she was cheating on him, took his money, took his vehicles, wouldn’t sign papers for him and always threatened to call INS to have him deported,” officials wrote in the report.
“He went so far as to say it would be his birthday present.”
Police said he handed over the cash in two payments on April 20 and 21 along with a photo of his wife and a diagram showing possible paths of entry and escape.
He was arrested after the third meeting and remains in police custody.
