I must admit, when I first read about Hitchcock (The film about the making of Psycho), I was a little distraught, especially by some of the casting decisions. But now, thanks to a photo of Sir Anthony Hopkins, I’m actually looking forward to it. Read on for details (and the pic!)….
One of the greatest actors of our time has had an extreme makeover to play one of the greatest film directors of all time, Alfred Hitchcock.
The Silence of the Lambs Academy Award winner, Sir Anthony Hopkins, has undergone an incredible transformation for the new film Hitchcock, based on the making of Hitchcock’s 1960 masterpiece Psycho.
Fox Searchlight Pictures released the picture today after the film started shooting last Friday.
Hopkins, 74, is given a fuller and longer face to match the famous Hitchcock hang-dog profile.
And while he still looks seventy-something, Hopkins will actually be playing Hitchcock when he was 60. But really, the Rear Window director looked pretty much the same for around 30 years.
Hitchcock also stars Scarlett Johansson as actress Janet Leigh, whose character Marion Crane suffers an untimely fate in that still-scary shower scene.
Jessica Biel plays Leigh’s co-star Vera Miles (Marion’s on-screen sister), while James D’Arcy is Anthony Perkins, the actor typecast as resident creep after playing creep du jour Norman Bates.
Completing the dream cast is Helen Mirren as Hitchcock’s wife Alma Reville, and Australia’s very own Toni Collette as Hitch’s production assistant Peggy Robertson.
Hitchcock is due out in 2013. Another Oscar for Hopkins, maybe?
