Music: Florida’s 305 FEST will rip your face off with over 47 bands playing

Okay folks, this fest in Florida is the best lineup of hardcore punk and thrash/powerviolence bands I have seen in years. Read on to see who’s playing.

For some strange reason, whether it be the severe weather or money problems, Florida just seemed to not get a lot of touring bands that are from the powerviolence/hardcore scene. That all changed with the help of local promotion SpeedFreak Promotions. They would fly out bands who are known not to play Florida and get them shows.

Now has come the time where SpeedFreak has used all of it’s assets to bring you fine folks 305 Fest. With a lineup of 47 bands, this could be a fest I might even have to fly out for.

Rick Smith(former Torche drummer) founded SpeedFreak Promotions and had this to say about the show.

“The unfortunate thing is we have to charge more,” Smith half-laments. “They’re not $5 punk shows anymore. However, the facts are obvious. We almost always get skipped over when tours pass through the Southeast. The goal is to try and make some legendary shows go down in Miami that wouldn’t normally happen on their own.”

In keeping with their mission statement to make history, Smith and Forbes have signed on to coordinate this year’s 305 Fest, an annual punk and hardcore showcase that has gone through a few casts of coordinators. It’s safe to say that the Speedfreek edition of the festival is the most ambitious to date.
