SILENT HILL HD COLLECTION delayed. Again.

“In my restless dreams, I see that town. Silent Hill.”

In a move that should surprise no one, Konami has delayed their upcoming release, the SILENT HILL HD COLLECTION, yet again. The official release date is now set for March 20, 2012.

For the uninitiated or the unaware, the SILENT HILL HD COLLECTION is a single disc release that will include remastered versions of two of the series’ most popular games, SILENT HILL 2 and SILENT HILL 3. Both titles have been remastered to HD at 720p. They will include updated audio tracks, including new in-game voice acting.

Originally slated for an October 2011 release, the company decided to delay the game to December 2011. Then, it was delayed to January 24, 2012. And then delayed to February. The most recent date was set at March 6, 2012. Despite this new release date pitting the game against BioWare’s space epic juggernaut, MASS EFFECT 3, this date also meant that gamers would get the HD collection one week before the release of the series’ latest installment, SILENT HILL: DOWNPOUR, which is still slated for release on March 13, 2012. After that, we would get the PS Vita exclusive, SILENT HILL: BOOK OF MEMORIES, on March 27, 2012.

This latest release date change makes a lot of sense. Going up against MASS EFFECT 3 is crazy, as it is expected to be highly critically acclaimed and sell millions of copies. Also, this change means that Silent Hill fans can look forward to each release within one week of each other.

So, here are the release dates as scheduled at this time:
